Os fãs brasileiros de futebol inglês se interessam não somente pela Premier League, mas também pela Championship. A Segunda Divisão do Campeonato Inglês foi criada na temporada 1892/1893, com o nome Second Division. O campeão da primeira edição foi o Small Heath, primeiro nome do clube que passou a ser conhecido como Birmingham City.
Com a ruptura dos clubes da primeira divisão em 1992 para fundar a Premier League, a segunda divisão passou a ser chamada de First Division. Já em 2004 foi renomeada novamente para Football League Championship, até virar EFL Championship em 2016.
